As part of efforts to Celebrate, mark this year’s 2021 International Women’s Day, a group under the aegies of National Council For Women Societies (NCWS)- Nigeria, Delta State Chapter led by its State President, Mrs Helen Tsitse Bob-Manuel has called on Women in the State to Uphold Women’s achievements, its roles on generational Equality, recognize and focus to overcome societal challenges towards sustainable development as the real Architects of the society.
Mrs Helen Tsitse Bob-Manuel dislosed this to our reporter in a press statement made available to Newsmen today being on 8th of March, 2021 in Asaba, Delta State Capital signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mrs Bridget Ada Ebomah, stated that this year’s International Women’s Day is a rallying point for generational equality, to act for an equal future for all.
The National Council For Women Societies (NCWS)- Nigeria is the apex Women body, group in Nigeria; a formidable group in Nigeria and abroad comprises of a combination of all Women groups with branches in the 36 States of the Federation and FCT, comprises of 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria whose major objectives is Promote advocacy on areas such as Women Gender equality, or mainstream in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Also, NCWS as a group is working towards massive involvement of Women in politics, fighting for the interest of its members, fundamental human rights of Women everywhere in the country and globally for sustainable socio-economic, cultural and political development in all its State Chapters, especially in Delta State.
The State president in her International Women’s Day message stated that a challenged World is an alert World, while the group added that today’s global event offers the Women in Delta State, Nigeria and globally an opportunity to reflect on progress made, call for challenge in the movement for Women’s rights.
The leadership noted that it is basically, to serve as Women’s voices around the World to Campaign for better Leadership, to uphold Women’s Achievements, recognize Challenges and focus greater attention towards gender equality for sustainable development in the society.
Delta NCWS press statement reads in parts: ” We wish Happy International Women’s Day to all our sisters all over the State, Nigeria and the World at large for their goldly virtues of loyalty, Constance to purpose, unswerving steadfastness, dignity, self-respect, and bipartisanship. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and Political achievements of Women all over the world”.
“International Women’s Day is a memorable Day Set aside by the United Nations for all countries of the World to draw the attention of the Governments, donor agencies, civil society Organizations, Community based Organizations and the general public to the fight and cause of Women and Girls globally.
“Also an avenue towards creating an enabling environment for Women to co-exist peacefully with the men-folk. Also, a medium to promote sensitization on the ills of trafficking in Women and girls, rape, prostitution, bad societal culture and other social vices prevalent in the society”.
