As part of efforts towards encouraging academic excellence, hardwork, patriotism, community services and volunteerism in Nation-building, a graduate of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Victor Okoye among other 65 ex-corps members had won Mohammad Buhari’s Presidential awards- automatic employment and Scholarships to study up to Ph.D level in any University of their choice.
The media learnt this in a statement fromTansian University’s Times Magazine today being Wednesday, May 24, 2023 which was made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital as President Mohammadu Buhari commended their community development services during their service years.
In the words of President Mohammadu Buhari: “The ex-corps members had embarked on outstanding community development services in the communities they served during their service years. The 65 ex-copers are free to choose any federal ministry/agency of their choice as the place they want to work. The ex-corpers were equally giving postgraduate scholarship”.
The event which took place at Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja saw the gathering of the creme dè là creme in society as National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, marked 50th Anniversary Celebration.
In his reactions, Chukwuemeka has commended President Mohammadu Buhari on behalf of other ex-corp members for rewarding hardwork. He assured the President that the beneficiaries will not disappoint Nigerians. Chukwuemeka, a multi-media expert also appreciated the management and staff of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State for the knowledge imparted on him, which he said had helped him to climb to the high pedestal.
It could be recalled that Chukwuemeka Victor Okoye graduated from Department of Political Science, Tansian University Umunya, Anambra State in 2018 and completed his NYSC in 2019/2020 service year. The media learnt that, Mr. Chukwuemeka, former Tansian University graduate was into photography, photo editing, video coverage, film editing. The act he learnt from Tansian University Entrepreneurship Centre as he equally had a registered business name called: “DUNAMIS”.
Also, that while other ex-corps members scholarships are for Masters Degree, Mr Chukwuemeka Victor Okoye’s Scholarship is for Ph.D as he is about to complete his Masters Degree programme before winning the presidential award.
