
DELCOF FLAGS OF SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP FOR YOUTHS AGAINST CONSUMPTION OF ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES AND DRUGS IN DELTA STATE
Ughelli: A civil society organizations under the auspices of Delta State Civil Society Organizations Forum (DELCOF), the umbrella body of Non-State Actors in the State has flag of a one day sensitization exercise against consumption of illegal substance and drug abuse for Youths in Ughelli North local Government Area of Delta State.
Chairman of the DELCOF, Dr Agboro adviced Traditional infrastructures, Nigeria Police, NDLEA and other sister security Agencies in the State to partnership with the Delta State Conflict Prevent Council and collaboration with Ughelli North LGA against this ugly menace in our state and urged the Traditional and Community institutions , Nigerian Police, NDLEA Delt and Human Rights Protection Congress in the State to join hands in this fight to save our society and the next generations.
The event which was well attended by high profile personality was anchored by Mr. Obot Obot Jnr. furtured the presence of His Royal Majesty, Oharisi 111, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, the President-General of Ughelli kingdom, Community -Presidents and their secretaries, other Traditional infrastructures from the kingdom, including Youth and women bodies, the Muslim community, hotelias, representatives from different groups and associations, others are the Commissioner of Police duly represented by the Area Commander, ACP. Ademola Adebayo, State Commandant NDLEA ably represented by ACN Silas Omobude and other sister security Agencies.

Igogono, Chairman Conflict Prevent Council, Dr. Andrew Agboro, the Lead Consultant to the state Conflict Prevent Council, Human Right Protection Congress led by the state Director, Comrade Monday Enudi, NDLEA commandant and other stakeholders

CHALLENGES and DELIBERATIONS
The workshop identify high rate of kidnapping, abused of Illicit substance, possession of light arms, prostitution, trafficking , cyber crimes and other social misnormals as the Major challenges, including the involvement of parents aiding and abating crime with their children, constituted authorities and highly place person where also identified as catalyst in the illicit Substances value chain
Dr Agboro adviced the house to adopt a multi-dimentional approach in addressing the issue that bedevils the value chain of the war to nip it to the mud.
The President General of Ughelli kingdom High Chief Pius Omubaye JP urged communities to rise to the challenges and spearhead a value re-orientation exercise in their respective domains.
The CP advice Community leaders and the NDLEA to reassess cultural factors and systems that support drug abuse and illicit Substances not undermining the treatment approach.
Pastor Edewor said, Youths and Community leaders should take advantage of the outcomes of the meeting and play their roles in dealing with the hydra-Headed monster call drug abuse and spread the message to their Communities including schools, hotels, religious centers in every Nooks and Crannies of the State in order to have a society free from drug criminals
The meeting concluded that community leaders and other stakeholders should constitute a task force to monitor early warnings and signal of the supply and demand value chain and network distribution of drug peddlers
NDLEA was charge to smoke out Drug peddlers and users in the State to nip the high level of drug abuse value chain
Community institutions to collaborate with CSO and galvanize actions on outreaches and symposiums on illicit Substance’s abuse
Conduct specific home based advocacy for families to encourage their children and wards to maximize and channel their energy to create opportunities for Sustainable Development in the state
His Royal Majesty, Evang. Dr. Ojakovo Wilson JP+, Oharisi 111, The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom advised Community leaders to rise and collaborate with the NDLEA and sister agencies to enforce the laws as at when necessary
The meeting was concluded at about 2pm with an evidence based virtual presentation by the NDLEA representative demonstrating the type of some Illicit substance and their effect in the society.
