UNESCO laureate & Vice-Chancellor, Crown University Int’l Chartered Inc in USA with its teaching and research Hospital campuses are located at Santa Cruz Province in Argentina, Brazil and Spain with official partners constituents campuses at government regulated Universities worldwide and online operation, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has commiserated with the family of the late Olarenwaju Adepoju, Fellow of International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS), a veteran poet, music producer and Yoruba culture promoter, who died on Sunday evening.

Delta Uhuru learnt that, Sheikh Adepoju died in his Idi-Orogbo residence, off MKO Abiola Way in Ibadan, the state capital, during a protracted old-age related ailment.

In a press statement today being on Thursday, December 14, 2023 by Comrade Sir Bieni Victor Emenike, the Executive Assistant On Media, Publicity & Communication Matters to the UNESCO laureate, World Acclaimed Distinguished Universities Research Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu said Late Olarenwaju Adepoju was a great assets to ICWLS Community worldwide as he prayed that, soul of the late Nigerian Poet, Alh Olarenwaju Adepoju rest in perfect peace (Amen!)

Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu who is also the World Grand President, International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS) stated that Pa Olarenwaju Adepoju has contributed immensely to the growth and development of theatre arts, literature in the world. He then described him as one of Oyo’s, Nigeria’s finest Poets, entertainers, intellectuals who had contributed for decades towards nation building and sustainable socio-economic global development.

The statement by Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, the World Grand President, International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS) reads in parts: “We commiserate with the immediate family of the late poet and the entire people of Ibadanland, Oyo State Government, Nigeria, Africa and globally over the demise of their great son, Late Sir Adepoju Olanrewaju who was a shining light while alive and left a great legacy on earth”.

“We pray the almighty Allah, God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. On behalf of the Leadership of ICWLS worldwide, we express our deep condolences to the family of Late Alhaji Sheikh Olanrewaju Adepoju, the renowned social crusader, who used poetry and music to correct social ills not only in Nigeria, Africa, but globally”.

“A Life Fellow Member and Most Notable and Top Distinguished Poet of 21st Century, ICWLS Community worldwide, Late Pa Adepoju was a great democrat, an intellectual giant, a Pacesetter who left a legacy for the younger generation. He was a social crusader and made huge impact on the society. Our prayers is that God grant repose to his soul and protect the family he left behind.”

“The Popular Yoruba poet, Alhaji Olanrewaju Adepoju, dies at 83 UNESCO laureate, in his condolence message, described the death of the late Yoruba Poet, Late Alhaji Sheikh Adepoju, the Aare Alaasa of Ibadanland (an honorary title) as a great loss to the entire Yoruba Nation”.

UNESCO laureate stated that, Alhaji Sheikh Adepoju, the late Yoruba Poet was not just a poet, he was also a democrat, musician and an activist, who used his God-given grace to fight for the common good as well as good governance. A patriotic Nigerian, who didn’t sit back during the struggle to free the country from the firm grip of the military”.
