UNESCO laureate and Vice-Chancellor, Crown University, USA, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, has Commended the Leadership of United Nations Global Compact on event success recently anchored, just concluded on the theme: “Creative Leverage: Human Rights Action In Business” held May 30, 2024.

In a statement by VC CUICI, USA today being on Saturday, June 1, 2024 which was made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital by UNESCO Laureate’s Executive Assistant On Media, Publicity and Communication Matters, Sir Bieni Victor Emenike as Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu tasks United Nations Global Compact on innovative strategies for global business sustainability, corporate business relationships, and Actions, policies, environment that promotes human rights.

UNESCO Laureate said: “United Nations Global Compact primary objectives are to ensure that, “Companies align their strategies operations with the universal principles as related to environmentally sustainable economies such as in labour, environment and others to maintain fairness and inclusiveness for everyone. United Nations Global Compact is a non-binding United Nations body who amongst other objectives are to leverage on human rights Action as creative strategies or pact to get businesses and firms worldwide adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and report on their implementations”.

The release by Prof Aremu reads in parts: “In a world where businesses play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping societies and economies, it is not enough to avoid causing harm. Companies must use their influence to encourage others to do good. This is one of the major reason for the event as just concluded. I must commend UN Global Compact for making this great initiative a reality. I commend UN officials, all critical Stakeholders, industrialists, businessmen and women who participated in the event towards ensuring creative leverage, human rights Action in business”.

“We are happy over this development or initiative that promotes human rights Action in Business. I must commend the leadership of United Nations on invitation and event success in just concluded event as held on May 30, 2024 as hosted by United Nations Global Compact, UNESCO Laureate then urged groups, stakeholders to explore the benefits of a just transition to ensure global environmentally sustainable economies. As one of the stakeholders, I have learnt something on the theme: “Creative Leverage: Human Rights Action In Business which will make companies to impact on lives and environment; use their influence to make others to do good”
